Archived: HomMed’s Genesis Touch™ v2 Offers New Innovations

Latest Version of Android-based Tablet Incorporates One-Touch Video, Scheduled Vitals Functionality

Archived Release — April 29, 2012 — HomMed, a leader in telehealth and remote patient care, today unveiled new features and functionality for its Genesis Touch™, the company’s FDA-cleared personal health device.

The Genesis Touch, introduced in February 2012, was designed with an open-development platform to allow for fast and near-continuous innovation. The second version of the tablet incorporates new services and applications such as a one-touch video application, scheduled vitals, Spanish language support and enhanced mobility:

  • Patient optimized one-touch video uses an embedded application for easy-to-use, face-to-face interaction between a patient and healthcare provider. The enhanced one-touch functionality allows patients to simply touch a “Video” button on the tablet’s screen to be linked into a scheduled video conference.
  • Scheduled Vitals automates the process for patients to collect and report their vitals and/or take medication, per healthcare provider specification. Providing these automatic reminders for patients who are collecting vitals has been shown to increase patient compliance to rates as high as 90 percent.
  • Spanish-language support provides menus, prompts, educational tools and questions from the healthcare provider in Spanish, mitigating the effect of any language barriers that may exist.
  • In addition to a 3G cellular network, as well as integrated Wi-Fi capabilities, the Genesis Touch has a 4G mobile Wi-Fi communications option that is now available, to support the device’s video technology and ensure patients have access to the technology support they need, whether they are at home or on vacation.

The Genesis Touch delivers stability and enhanced security for patient users, securing patient data to meet HIPAA requirements. A tamper-resistant interface protects the device and its information from the threat of viruses.

As with all Genesis personal health devices, the Genesis Touch will be supported on the healthcare provider side by the LifeStream Management Suite, which seamlessly integrates the patient’s device-collected information and other point-of-care applications into a single cloud-based platform, allowing patients, families and healthcare providers easy, secure access to patient information via the Internet.
